Dale Watson Dale Watson BiographyDale Watson is the real deal. A musical hero in Texas, his uncompromising style of hard-edged traditional country music has won him critical respect in country and rock circles as well as a fan base that stretches from Texas to London, from Los Angeles to Moscow. Never wanting stardom, he refused to play the publicity game, and his outspoken views on Nashville's move towards pop music have certainly won him few friends in the "establishment".
Dale Watson keeps it simple. Since he started playing shows in Texas in the early 80's, followed by a move to California where he had a stint in the house band at the prestigious Palomino Club in Los Angeles, Watson has spent his life on the road. He mixes country with rock and roll and rockabilly.
Watson's latest album on Audium, "Every Song I Write is for You", is the result of personal tragedy in Dale's life--a tragedy that he turned into a moving and haunting recording.
Last year, in the midst of divorce from his fist wife, Watson met the new love of his life, Terri Lynn Herbert. They fell in love and planned to marry, but tragedy struck when Terri was killed in a car accident. Dale was unable to deal with the loss, checked himself into a hotel room along with alcohol and pills and attempted suicide. Fortunately, his life was saved and that harrowing period has been turned into easily the finest album of his career, an album inspired by love for Terry Lynn Herbert. |
