Damon Gray

Damon Gray Biography

Another of the new faces on the block threatening to turn the country music establishment on its head, Damon Gray was born in Belen, New Mexico, the youngest son of a dairy farmer whose true passion has always been country music, whether he was playing it or just educating his children about it.  Damon had his beginnings singing at the Y Café and Gas Station: "I started singing as soon as I could talk.  People gathered around and I would sing for candy and loose change.  After that, music was all I ever wanted to do."

Once in Nashville, Damon set out to make contacts and pay his dues, and also faced the biggest test of his determination during this time.  Tragedy struck when Damon's father suddenly fell ill and passed away.  "I was heartbroken.  I just wish he had been able to see me on television one time," he says, "but losing him only made me push myself harder.  I know that is what he wanted.  It will always be a bond between us."

Recently, Damon's career took a giant step forward when Big O Productions, producers of such movies as "Phenomenon", starring John Travolta, contracted with Damon to have him sing "This Ain't No Honeymoon, It's A Hurricane" for their newest movie, "Blue Shark Hash".

Damon's vocal ability combines a strong and unique blend of pure country that makes his musical hero, Merle Haggard, proud.  In fact, after getting to know him, Merle wrote "Crazy Moon", a song that will be included on Damon's upcoming album.  Nashville gained a fresh talent that is true to country's roots when Damon Gray came to town.
